The Wahawk Marching Band's 2nd Contest Saturday of the season is coming up! Here is the itinerary, which also includes a Google Form to fill out ahead of time if a student will be riding home from the contest with a parent.

State contest and valleyfest Itinerary 2026 (available week of contest)

This is our final contest weekend for the Wahawk Marching Band! The Band performs in State Competition at 1:10 pm at Western Dubuque Sr. High School and then travels to and performs at Valley Stadium in West Des Moines at 8:30 pm. Both Lunch and Supper will be provided for students by the West HS Band Boosters! (may want to bring healthy snacks though)
Please click on the button to see the full October 10th itinerary (will be available the week of the contest). Parents, please fill out the "Alternate Travel Plans Form" that is linked on the itinerary if you plan to drive your student home at the end of the evening (fill out by Oct. 9)

Above is the 2026-27 Summer/Fall Marching Band Schedule Letter!

This schedule applies to ALL students 2026-27 in grades 10-12 (you all are in marching band), 26-27 9th graders participating in marching band, and all color guard members.

Be aware there are two short practices in July to get music handed out and get a jump on starting to learn our fundamentals and marching band music! Color Guard meets these days as well.

Leadership Team (includes all Seniors, Section Leaders, and Drum Majors) has some separate trainings on July 23, as well as Aug. 3 & 4(and help with new marchers)

Please get rehearsals, training, and performance dates on your calendars at home, and be sure that your employers have plenty of advanced notice so you can arrange your work schedule with band camp in mind.

Band Seeks Sponsors

Presently, the West High School Band is in the process of seeking sponsorships to help fund important educational opportunities for West HS Band Students, like music clinicians, fees for music festivals, providing supplemental instruction for the marching band, student leadership training, providing music and choreography for our students, and offset the cost of our semi-trailer expenses. We want to invite organizations and individuals to consider becoming a two-year sponsor with a few options of sponsorship levels to consider.
